Here's the EventLog Entry (German Windows 8.1): The auto updater ran after my latest reboot, so maybe not many FaceRig users have the latest Skype version? On my Computer the latest Skype also crashes. So if you are one of the early birds who have already updated their skype to the 7.0.0.102 version : Did it work with you with the FaceRig Virtual Webcam, without a hitch or not ? If not, did it work after you did the steps in the post above ?

So we believe it does not affect everyone, ( 8 reports are not that many) though at this point we admit that we may not have a proper picture of the issue, as not everyone updates their Skype version right away (so it is likely that more than 8 people are affected).įiguring this out exactly what happened will take a while, but at least we know now that it is an install procedure issue, not an issue with the program, and it appears that it can be fixed with a reinstall. On our computers it does work even with 7.0.0.102 without the need for such tricks, (tested on both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1) We have a user that was affected by this issue, and he has shared with us how he fixed it : ( please follow these steps exactly, don't just do a re-install) This issue is not FaceRig-specific, it affects other applications with DirectShow filters too : At this time we would advise you holding off on that Skype update just yet, until we have had time to figure this out. Skype has recently pushed an update ( 7.0.0.102) and we have a few reports (counting 8 so far) that this update broke compatibility with the FaceRig Virtual Cam (that is built as a DirectShow filter), and that before the Skype update, everything was working just fine.
